Peace Owners, 2016. Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 120cm X90cm, 120cm X90cm, 120cm X90cm
Every war of this world start with handful people’s egoist thought about politics, religion & other selfish reason. For whatever reason they give name of war its create very tragic effect on General life & lot of peoples lost their life. In this work I am creating three portraits of leaders whom name I heard a lot in every day’s news from last 6-7 years. They are representing a lot of other world leaders too. In this work “Peace Owners” I want to satires for all those Leaders who are on competition to create powerful weapon for given name of keeping peace in general life and whole world.
I have been working with many mediums to represent my thoughts and feelings since my artistic career was started. The subject matters in my work involve socio-political crisis of my country as well as the Globe and different incidents of my own life. I live in Pokhara, the beautiful silent place near Himalayas, but I am aware of the present situation of my own society as well as the world.
My background is painting although I use to do installation, performance, video work, photography & Digital works. I always would like to open my hand & mind for any medium to express myself.
I am interested to apply many different implements to make my work meaningful against many odds. I have in mind to do something out of the ‘conventional’ giving a new approach and language in the context of Nepal. So, accepting a new idea or trend is very difficult due to many limitations. I have a perception to develop my works and deepen myself taking my work to a dynamic direction.
Three of Them, 2009. Acrylic on Canvas. Size: 120cm X90cm, 120cm X75cm, 120cm X90cm.
“Three of them” painting I create in 2008. First of all I want to say little bit background of this work. At that time (2008) in Nepal big political change was happened. Nepal’s king monarchy which was founded in 1768 and was abolished on 28 May 2008 by the Nepalese Constituent Assembly. Maoist came in main stream & make joint government with other political parties. His Majesty Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shahdev was last king of Nepal & His departure marks the end of the final chapter of the world’s last Hindu monarchy.
In Hindu Religion (In Nepal) People beliefs King as a god. We (Nepali) beliefs king is part of Bishnu( God of preserver). In Hinduism, the succession of creation, preservation and destruction has been personified in three deities called the supreme triad which consists of: Brahma (The Creator), Vishnu (The preserver), Shiva (the destroyed)
In this work I want to show how our Mythical Heroes (King & his friends) are being so powerless & common people’s leaders taking their place & the Power. And they so called “common people’s Leaders’ will be another supreme god. We destroyed one king monarchy & creating lot of kings (Leaders) but can’t success to destroyed the pain & Problem of common Nepalese people.
